Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47 was likewise questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: “It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.

“These types of products being offered, typically online, have actually gone through no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

“You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the impact drugs like this might have on your health.”
