Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution .

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These types of products being offered, generally online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
