Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution .

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.

"These types of items being sold, usually online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
